The first social studies test is coming on September 10th. The students will receive a study guide on Monday. The test covers chapter 3 and will be approximately 25 points in length. There will be some matching, multiple choice and short answer. Names, locations and key events are always important.

Welcome back!! We hope you enjoyed the extra long weekend.
This week should be quite normal and will give you a good look at the level of homework and other activities that students will be experiencing. The adjustments to the locker storage system and switching classes is coming along nicely. Each day looks and flows a little better than the day before.
Also coming this Friday is our first team building experience. This will be a special activity time with the 5th graders as we work to build positive friendships. This fits in with our school effort to strengthen friendships and get rid of bullying behaviors. Be sure to ask your son or daughter about the special events.

We are slowly, but surely, getting back into the math mode.  The first chapter of our book has a variety of concepts.  These include divisibility patterns, prime factors, powers and exponents, order of operations, variables, expressions, and equations.  These are all important and will be used the rest of the year (and our lives!) to varying degrees.   Your student should be bringing home an assignment in math.  Please ask about it.

We are going to begin the social studies year in Egypt, Mesopotamia, and China. I think you will be surprised at some of the achievements of these people that lived so long ago.

Science will find us studying the formation of the earth and some of the natural disasters that can result from the constant changes that take place on our planet. Some of these studies may get a little messy!

Hope you come ready to move!! We have lots of neat things to learn!

Welcome back, 6th Graders!   We hope your summer was fun and relaxing.  It's time for middle school with changing classrooms and teachers throughout the day, storing your books and supplies in your locker, and being some of the leaders of Grace Lutheran School!    We look forward to an awesome year of growing, learning, laughing, and changing!  God bless each of you and your families as we launch the 2008-09 year!
